University of the Punjab Honors Turkish Academics for Promoting Urdu


Lahore, Pakistan - The Faculty of Oriental Learning, University of the Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan, recently honored Prof. Dr. Halil Toker, Director of Yunus Emre Institute Turkish Cultural Center Pakistan, and faculty members of the Department of Urdu, Istanbul University, Turkey, for their outstanding contributions to promoting Urdu in Turkey.
A special session was held during the International Symposium on the 100th death anniversary of Abdur Rehman Peshawri at Istanbul University, where shields were presented to the Turkish academics in recognition of their efforts. This gesture acknowledges the strong cultural ties between Pakistan and Turkey and the significant role played by these individuals in fostering Urdu language and literature in Turkey.

The Faculty of Oriental Learning, University of the Punjab, Lahore, and the Department of Urdu, Faculty of Letters, Istanbul University, Turkey, collaborated to organize this special session to acknowledge the services of Turkish professors promoting Urdu.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kamran, Dean of the Faculty of Oriental Learning, University of the Punjab, expressed gratitude and appreciation, stating, "This recognition is a testament to the dynamic vision of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali, Vice Chancellor of the University of the Punjab, Lahore, who emphasizes the spread of knowledge globally and collaboration with the world's best universities."
